Homework 2

Homework
Gauntlett uses text as a toolbox, in my music video I feel that it could encourage my audience to reconfirm who they are as a person or they challenge it as they watch it.
In my music video it represents two teenage girls who represent my target audience, as i have used two females who are of a similar age to my target audience this might affect on how my target audience review my music video. The two females in my music video are represented as care- free, living life to the full, appear as ‘A double act team’ which it is a lyric from my song choice this may portray that if your a teenager you need to reply on that one friend and that you should have a best friend who you do everything with. For my target audience they may view this and think that they have not got a best friend and they might feel like they are not normal, as they may have to reconfirm who they are. Smoking and drinking alcohol are shown in my music video for a teenage girl who is watching my video who may not smoke and drink alcohol might think that my music video is representing teenage girls wrong and she may take an oppositional reading and think that teenage girls have been stereotyped in a bad way.

Homework

I feel like i have positioned my target audience in a way that fits with reception theory because, my target audience were all the around the same age and the people that did view my video were all teenagers. I showed my class my video, which they were all the same age, class and shared the same values and thery all go to school and attend giggs.
Cultural postion
- The audience are mainly teenagers
Teenagers may read my music video as seeing, women as care free , independent due to that they do what they want, walking the streets, smoking and drinking.Might be seen as teenagers have to drink and smoke to fit in, or it might be seen as this is the norm for a teenagers life that they might smoke and drink. Also as my music video is comical younger teenagers could see this video and think that being older is fun and do not have any responsabilities because my artists dress how they like and seem to not care what is around them.
- The audiencehave a ethnic background similar to artist
I have culturally diverse audience , as i have include an afro-caribean artist in my video which she is the main character. They may critises the video and feel like there ethnic group is not being represented well as the afro-carribean artist in my video is smoking and drinking in parts of my video.

'Sometimes, working within constraunts produces the most interesting work' (Branston and strafford) How have you used ral media conventions to produce interesting or effective coursework productions?

The quote suggests that working within constraints produces interesting results, for example this demonstartes that if you do work within a boundry, this enables you to create a piece of work which is needed in the criteria but how you show really conveys your creativity.
From staying within the constraints, this enabled me to show my products as convincing and effective.During foundation level i created a professional look by looking at industry information and researching othe magazinesd and viewing what conventions they have, so then when i had to produce m magazine i knew what the conventions and the criteria was.In advanced level during A2 media our project was to produce a music video and
